The issue came to light after NHTSA received dozens of complaints regarding rearview camera failures, particularly in 2021–2023 Ford F-150 models. Ford engineers were later able to replicate the problem and traced it back to faulty software variants used in the infotainment system. The company acknowledged one minor crash with property damage linked to the defect.
Affected Models: Over a Dozen Ford and Lincoln Vehicles
The recall, identified by Ford as No. 25S49 and NHTSA recall No. 25V315000, impacts a wide range of vehicles from model years 2021 through 2025. A total of 1,075,299 units are affected. Key models include:- F-150 (2021–2024): 527,371 units

What to Do if You Have One of the Recalled Vehicles
Ford will address the issue by providing a free software update. Owners can have the software updated at a dealership or via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Notification letters will be mailed starting June 16, 2025, followed by a second letter when the remedy becomes available—expected later in the year.
