Elon Musk mocks Jaguar’s ‘woke’ ad, shares viral fake Aston Martin advertisement with Playboy cover

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, recently drew attention to a fake advertisement for Aston Martin, a luxury car company. The ad, featuring an image from Playboy magazine, resurfaced online after going viral in 2013.

The ad shows a woman posing in a kitchen with the tagline: “You know you’re not the first, but do you really care?” It promotes pre-owned Aston Martin cars, though the ad misspells "pre-owned" as "pre-owed."

Musk, sharing the image on X (formerly Twitter), called it the “best fake ad ever.” He acknowledged that the ad's suggestive content might have seemed plausible in 2013.


“Best fake ad ever ?? This meme ad was made in 2013 when it was actually vaguely possible that it might be real,” Musk wrote.

Aston Martin confirmed that the ad is not authentic.

Reports indicate that the image originated from a 2012 German edition of Playboy magazine and was digitally altered to include the Aston Martin branding. A noticeable typo in the ad, which reads "PRE OWED" instead of "PRE OWNED," further supports its inauthenticity.
