Elon Musk made the comment in response to a post in which Schumer accused DOGE of “sabotaging” Social Security
Tech billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has accused the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of potentially being involved in a government fraud. Musk was responding to a post on X by Schumer stating, "Trump has unleashed chaos on America”. Replying to Schumer’s post, Musk wrote “Chuck, I’m starting to think you’re getting a piece of the action with the government fraud. But no, that couldn’t possibly be the reason, could it?…”

Elon Musk, a close of President Donald Trump, has been spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an advisory body formed by the President to streamline federal operations and cut down costs. DOGE has been working to expose waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government.

Musk made the comment in response to a post in which Schumer accused DOGE of “sabotaging” Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — the post reflected sentiments Schumer had conveyed during a Senate speech. Schumer fired back in response to Musk’s suggestion he could be benefiting from government fraud.

In a post on X, Chuck Schumer wrote, "Trump has unleashed chaos on America —His tariffs hit families with largest tax hike in more than 50 years —DOGE is sabotaging Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid —The market is having its worst 3 days since COVID And Congressional Republicans are going along with it all so they can cut taxes for billionaires 120095882" (sic)

“Another Elon lie. He wants you to think anyone who dares to stand up to him is committing fraud, meanwhile he’s taking tens of billions from the government,” Schumer declared in a post on Tuesday.

In another post, he stepped up his attack on Elon Musk and DOGE's action against social security frauds and said "What Elon Musk is doing at Social Security is cutting benefits. And Senate Republicans are standing with him". They blocked our amendments last week to protect Social Security from DOGE and reverse the Social Security layoffs and office closures,” he further added. Musk responded quickly, replying “The intern running Schumer’s social media account is lying”.

“When offices close down, when websites crash, when phone lines shut off, that’s no different than cutting benefits,” Schumer said.

Back in February, Schumer voiced criticism of DOGE, stating, “The American people will not tolerate an unelected, secretive group running unchecked through the executive branch. Innovation is important, but Mr. Musk, this isn’t a tech startup—we’re dealing with public institutions.”

In response, Musk quoted the tweet, saying, “He’s upset that @DOGE is exposing the radical-left shadow government in plain sight. This is our ONE CHANCE to shift POWER from an unelected BUREAUcracy back to DEMOcracy. With YOUR support, we can make it happen. Thank you, unknown soldiers.”
