Ed Sheeran’s two concerts at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts have been canceled due to severe weather warnings, putting an abrupt end to what had already been a turbulent week for the singer’s US tour. Sheeran was scheduled to perform at the Foxborough stadium on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, as part of his LOOP Tour. The concerts were canceled because of severe weather expected across Boston and New England.

The cancellation was announced by tour promoter Messina Touring Group, which said the decision followed consultation with local officials and was made with the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved in the shows as the top priority.

Fans who bought tickets through Ticketmaster do not need to take any action following the cancellation.


Ticketmaster says refunds for canceled events are automatically processed to the original payment method once the event organizer provides the funds. The refund should generally appear in the account within 14 to 21 days.

For Sheeran’s Gillette Stadium shows, Ticketmaster had already agreed to provide advance refunds following intervention by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Before the weather cancellation, ticket holders who no longer wanted to attend because of changes to the concert lineup were asked to request refunds at least 24 hours before showtime.

With the concerts now canceled because of the weather, the standard canceled-event refund process applies.

The two Massachusetts concerts were canceled because of severe weather warnings across Boston and New England.

Messina Touring Group said it made the decision after consulting local officials, citing the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved in the production.

The concerts were originally scheduled for September 25 and 26 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Ticketmaster had listed both shows for 8 p.m.

The weather cancellation comes as Sheeran’s US tour has already faced controversy over the removal of rapper Macklemore from the tour.

Macklemore had voiced support for Palestinians during a performance on Sheeran’s tour, including saying “Free Palestine.” He was subsequently removed from the US leg of the LOOP Tour after venue-related objections.

Sheeran later said the decision was made by the tour promoter following pressure from venues and denied personally removing Macklemore. Several other supporting acts subsequently withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.

The controversy followed Sheeran to Philadelphia, where he addressed the issue publicly during his September 19 concert. He apologized for how the situation had been handled and described the situation in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable,” while also condemning the October 2023 Hamas attack.

Ticket prices had fallen before cancellation

The cancellation also comes after ticket prices for the Gillette Stadium shows had reportedly fallen, with some tickets available for less than $75 as the concerts approached.

The Massachusetts attorney general's office had received complaints from ticket holders who wanted refunds after changes to the concert lineup. Campbell announced on September 24 that Ticketmaster had agreed to provide refunds for eligible ticket holders before the shows.

For fans whose tickets were purchased through Ticketmaster, the cancellation means refunds will now be handled under Ticketmaster's canceled-event policy.

What to do now: If your Ed Sheeran Gillette Stadium ticket was purchased through Ticketmaster, check your order and email notifications, but a canceled event generally requires no separate refund request. Ticketmaster says the money is returned to the original payment method and can take 14–21 days to appear.
