During a celebratory event at the White House honoring the Los Angeles Dodgers for their World Series win over the New York Yankees, President Donald Trump took a moment to deliver a pointed remark aimed at Democratic senators. "We have a couple senators here. I just don't particularly like them, so I won't introduce them," he joked, prompting laughter and smiles to erupt in the room.
During the Dodgers’ visit on Monday, former President Trump praised Shohei Ohtani’s appearance while subtly criticizing unnamed senators. “He looks like a movie star,” Trump remarked after shaking Ohtani’s hand. “He’s got a bright future, I’m telling you.” Ohtani was instrumental in the Dodgers’ World Series victory last season, making history as the first player ever to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.

The Dodgers are off to a strong start this season with a 9-2 record. After a day off, they’re set to begin a three-game series against the Washington Nationals on the road.

Pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who missed the postseason due to injury, presented former President Donald Trump with a No. 47 Dodgers jersey during their visit. The two posed for photos during the event. Following the Dodgers’ win over the New York Yankees, manager Dave Roberts announced he would not attend the White House visit.
The Dodgers are the second professional team to visit the White House during Trump’s second term. During his first term, 20 major sports teams won championships, but only half of them visited the White House. Some teams were not invited, while others declined to attend, even if invited.
