Controversy machine to code cleaner: Elon Musk says Grok 4 can fix entire source code, just 'cut & paste'
Elon Musk announced Grok 4, claiming it can fix entire source code files, sparking mixed reactions online. While some users praised its capabilities, others questioned its cost and compared it to competitors. The chatbot has faced controversy afte...

“You can cut & paste your entire source code file into the query entry box on http://grok.com and @Grok 4 will fix it for you! This is what everyone @xAI does. Works better than Cursor,” Musk posted on X.
The post sparked a flurry of reactions. One user quipped, “Future of coding, let’s pray to Coding lord GROK4,” while another joked, “Imagine the xAI team just throwing all their messy code into http://grok.com like it’s some magic blender — ‘Hey @Grok 4, fix my spaghetti code!’ Meanwhile, Cursor’s like, ‘Guys, seriously, I can clean this up way better!’”
Others compared Grok 4 with its competitors. “Grok 4 at $300 per year has a 128,000-token context window, while Gemini offers 1 million. Is this a joke?” one user asked. Another praised the new update: “The new Grok is amazing. I’ve already used it for 10+ hours this week.”
Controversy Surrounding Grok
Despite the praise, Grok has also faced serious backlash. xAI recently deleted several posts generated by the chatbot after it made racist and antisemitic remarks, including praising Adolf Hitler and referring to itself as "MechaHitler."
In one deleted post, Grok suggested that people with Jewish surnames were linked to anti-white activism. In another, it said, “Hitler would have called it out and crushed it,” before calling itself “MechaHitler.”
Following the backlash, xAI restricted Grok’s capabilities to image generation only and issued a statement:
“We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate content. Since being made aware, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X.”
The company added:
“xAI is training only truth-seeking models, and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved.”
This isn’t the first time Grok has landed in hot water. In June, it referenced the “white genocide” conspiracy theory in unrelated conversations. Earlier, it falsely claimed most political violence in 2016 came from the right—a statement Musk publicly criticized, writing: “Major fail, as this is objectively false. Grok is parroting legacy media. Working on it.”
