Cindy Crawford’s son, model Presley Gerber, dies at 27

Cindy Crawford’s son and model Presley Gerber has died at the age of 27, CNN reported, citing his representative. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said Gerber died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility. A cause of death has not been listed.

Crawford’s publicist confirmed the death to CNN and said the family was asking for privacy “during this very difficult and painful time.”

Gerber, the son of Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, followed his mother and sister Kaia Gerber into modelling. Born in California in 1999, he made his runway debut for Italian fashion label Moschino at 16 and later walked for brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.


He also featured in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega, and appeared in publications including GQ Style and The New York Times Style Magazine. According to his agency DNA Model Management, Gerber also worked as an investor and entrepreneur.

In recent years, Gerber had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and drug use. In a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, he discussed his efforts to raise awareness around mental health, describing it as “such a big part of my life”. He also ran a “Mental Health Mondays” initiative and worked with organisations including Los Angeles homelessness charity A Sense of Home, CNN reported.

Gerber had spoken about his use of prescription medication in a video posted on Instagram last December. In the since-removed video, he referred to experiencing significant loss and discussed taking antidepressants and Xanax for panic attacks.

Crawford had responded to that post by writing, “Presley — we love you and you are not alone.” In July, she marked her son’s 27th birthday on Facebook, writing that she was proud of the man he had become while saying she would always see him as her “little boy”.

Gerber’s struggles had also been discussed publicly by his sister. Earlier this month, Kaia Gerber spoke about her brother’s addiction in an interview for American Vogue’s September issue.

Kaia said the experience had affected the entire family and described her brother as someone who was willing to be open about his struggles. “I’m gonna be very human for everyone,” she recalled him saying, according to the magazine.
