What Is Call of the Night About?

Call of the Night is a Japanese anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Kotoyama. First airing in 2022, the anime is produced by Liden Films and directed by Tomoyuki Itamura, with Tetsuya Miyanishi serving as chief director. Scriptwriter Michiko Yokote, character designer Haruka Sagawa, and composer Yoshiaki Dewa round out the creative team.

The story revolves around Ko Yamori, a disillusioned teen who stops going to school and begins wandering the streets at night. His nocturnal adventures lead him to Nazuna Nanakusa—a mysterious vampire who introduces him to the freedom and allure of the night. Drawn to this new lifestyle, Ko decides he wants to become a vampire himself—but first, he must fall in love with Nazuna.
