The pop star was flying from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with her security team when the incident occurred. According to the report, Spears began drinking during the flight and at one point lit a cigarette inside the cabin—alarming the flight crew.
Flight attendants reportedly intervened, asking her to extinguish the cigarette, which she did. Sources told TMZ that her behavior during the flight as "difficult."
Upon arrival at LAX, Spears was reportedly met by authorities and given a formal warning. She was not detained and was allowed to leave. LAX police confirmed to TMZ that they did not respond to the incident, suggesting that the warning may have come from U.S. Customs officials.
JSX, the private airline operating the flight, declined to comment on the matter.
TMZ, qupting sources close to Spears, said that her struggles with mental health continue to impact her daily life. Some in her circle remain critical of the 2021 court decision to end her conservatorship, arguing that the judge ignored medical advice and gave in to public pressure from the #FreeBritney movement.
As one insider told TMZ, “The judge went so Hollywood, ignoring all the medical reports in front of her and just bent to the Free Britney people outside the courthouse.”
