Bryan Johnson, the billionaire entrepreneur obsessed with reversing aging, says he plans to be alive to witness Bitcoin’s final halving — nearly 115 years from now.

“Last Bitcoin halving is in 2140. I’m gonna be here for that — and make sure you are too,” Johnson declared in a tweet.

The bold claim aligns with his well-known mission to defeat aging and extend human lifespan through science and technology.

What is a Bitcoin Halving?

A Bitcoin halving is a scheduled event that occurs roughly every four years, in which the reward given to miners for validating transactions and adding new blocks to the blockchain is cut in half.

This mechanism is meant to control the supply of Bitcoin while mimicking the scarcity of resources like gold and reducing the inflation over time.

Historical Halvings:
2009: 50 BTC

2012: 25 BTC
2016: 12.5 BTC
2020: 6.25 BTC
2024: 3.125 BTC

The reward will continue halving until all 21 million Bitcoins are mined.

Why the Year 2140?

Bitcoin’s code is designed so that the mining process will keep slowing down as rewards shrink. It’s projected that the final Bitcoin will be mined around the year 2140, at which point:

  • No new Bitcoins will be created
  • Block rewards will drop to zero
  • Miners will earn only through transaction fees

In simple terms, the “last Bitcoin halving” in 2140 marks the end of new Bitcoin issuance — the currency will become truly finite.

Who is Bryan Johnson?

Bryan Johnson is a tech billionaire and founder of Braintree (acquired by PayPal) and Kernel, a company working on brain-machine interface technology.

He’s also the face behind Project Blueprint, a radical anti-aging experiment in which he follows a strict diet, exercise, and sleep regimen. He also said to monitor dozens of biomarkers daily. He even once received plasma transfusions from his teenage son.

Johnson’s ultimate goal is to reverse his biological age and “don’t die.” He’s even proposed a community movement called the “Don’t Die” religion — a secular belief system built around science, longevity, and collective purpose.
