Benjamin Satterley, famous wrestler known as Pac in AEW and Neville in WWE, passes away at 40. What caused his death?

The wrestling world has lost one of its most distinctive high-flying performers, with Benjamin Satterley, known to fans as Pac in AEW and Neville in WWE, passing away at the age of 40.

All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley’s death on Sunday night but did not reveal his cause of death or provide information about the circumstances surrounding it.

Satterley, who was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, on August 22, 1986, began his professional wrestling career in 2004. He first made his mark on Britain’s independent wrestling circuit before taking his career overseas, including a prominent spell with Japan’s Dragon Gate.


His career took a major turn in 2012 when he joined WWE. Performing initially as Adrian Neville in NXT, he became one of the division’s leading stars during its early years.

Neville captured the NXT Tag Team Championship before winning the NXT Championship. His title reign lasted 286 days, from February to December 2014.

His athletic style earned him the nickname ‘The Man Gravity Forgot’. Among his most recognisable moves was the Red Arrow, a 450-degree splash executed from the top rope.

WWE main roster and cruiserweight success

Neville moved to WWE’s main roster in 2015 and subsequently became a prominent figure in the company’s cruiserweight division. He won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship twice and was promoted as the ‘King of the Cruiserweights’.

Satterley departed WWE in 2018 and returned to using the Pac name. He continued wrestling internationally, including another stint with Dragon Gate, before signing with AEW in 2019.

AEW became an important chapter in his career. Pac won the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Championship, which was later renamed the AEW International Championship. He also captured the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix as part of Death Triangle. He was later associated with the Death Riders.

Final appearance

Satterley’s death came soon after his most recent wrestling appearance. He competed at AEW All Out in Chicago on September 26, challenging Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship.

Andrade retained the championship after countering Pac’s Brutalizer submission attempt into a pin.

AEW, in announcing his death, recalled Satterley’s career across wrestling promotions worldwide and highlighted his innovative aerial offence and in-ring ability.

Over more than two decades, Satterley competed across Britain, Japan, the United States and other international wrestling markets. His career was defined by athleticism, high-risk manoeuvres and a style that made him a memorable performer in both WWE and AEW.
