Batman: Knightfall is the first part of the trilogy
While Warner Bros. Animation has not announced exact release date for the second chapter, the Batman: Knightfall Part 2 – Knightquest is expected to be released later this year.
When will Batman: Knightfall Part 2 be released?
Warner Bros. and DC have confirmed that Batman: Knightfall Part 2 – Knightquest will arrive later in 2026, although an exact date has not been announced.Part 3, titled Batman: Knightfall Part 3 – KnightsEnd, is planned for early 2027 and will conclude the trilogy.
Based on the release pattern of other DC animated projects, Part 2 could potentially arrive digitally around three to four months after the first movie. If that pattern is followed, December 2026 would be a possible window, although this remains speculation until Warner Bros. announces the official date.
What will Batman: Knightfall Part 2 be about?
The second movie is expected to focus heavily on the Knightquest storyline and the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's devastating confrontation with Bane.In Part 1, Bane systematically wears Batman down by unleashing Gotham's most dangerous criminals and forcing Bruce to fight an exhausting series of battles. Eventually, Bane defeats Batman and leaves him physically broken.
With Bruce unable to protect Gotham, someone else must take up the mantle.
That person is Jean-Paul Valley, better known as Azrael.
Valley initially attempts to continue Batman's mission while Bruce recovers. However, his increasingly violent approach to crime-fighting creates a dangerous new version of the Dark Knight.
The original Knightquest storyline was split into two major sections: The Search and The Crusade. One follows Bruce's recovery and his efforts to find Tim Drake's missing father, while the other explores Jean-Paul Valley's increasingly brutal reign as Batman.
Batman: Knightfall Part 2 expected cast
Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed the complete voice cast for Part 2. However, the established trilogy includes several major performers.Anson Mount voices Bruce Wayne/Batman, while Michael Mando plays Bane. Pablo Schreiber voices Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael, a character who is expected to become far more important in Knightquest.
Bruce Wayne should remain central to the story as he begins the difficult process of recovering and eventually attempting to reclaim the Batman identity.
Other familiar characters, including Robin, Nightwing, Commissioner Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth, are also expected to remain part of the story.
How Part 2 connects to Batman: Knightfall Part 1
Part 1 establishes the central conflict between Batman and Bane.Rather than simply attacking Batman directly, Bane develops a strategy designed to exhaust him. Gotham's criminals are unleashed, forcing Bruce to spend his strength fighting one threat after another.
By the time Batman finally faces Bane, he is already physically and mentally depleted.
Part 2 changes the situation dramatically. Gotham still needs Batman, but Bruce Wayne can no longer fill the role.
Jean-Paul Valley's decision to become Batman creates the central conflict of Knightquest and ultimately sets the stage for KnightsEnd.
When will Batman: Knightfall Part 1 arrive on HBO Max?
Batman: Knightfall Part 1 is currently available through digital purchase platforms, while physical editions are scheduled to arrive on September 8, 2026.The major question for fans is when the movie will become available to stream as part of an HBO Max subscription.
There is no confirmed HBO Max streaming date yet. Previous DC animated movies have taken different amounts of time to move from digital sales to subscription streaming, so the exact timing for Knightfall Part 1 remains uncertain.
Batman: Knightfall trilogy release schedule
The current rollout is:- Batman: Knightfall Part 1 — released digitally in 2026
- Batman: Knightfall Part 2 – Knightquest — planned for later in 2026
- Batman: Knightfall Part 3 – KnightsEnd — planned for early 2027
For fans of the original comics, Knightquest should offer a significant change of direction. The story moves beyond the Batman-Bane showdown and examines what happens when someone else inherits the identity of the Dark Knight.
With Bruce Wayne recovering and Jean-Paul Valley becoming increasingly extreme, Batman: Knightfall Part 2 – Knightquest is poised to be a darker chapter of the animated trilogy.
