The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is investigating Bishnoi, whose details are listed on the prison’s website. While Indian authorities reportedly shared information regarding Bishnoi’s illegal entry into the US, sources suggest his surrender might be a tactical move to apply for asylum. This follows extradition proceedings initiated by Mumbai police against Bishnoi.
Sources indicate that before his detention, Bishnoi applied for asylum through the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. With asylum proceedings initiated, his extradition to India or any other country is unlikely.
Bishnoi faces accusations in several serious cases in India, including the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and the shooting incident at Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence. He is also accused of providing support to the individuals responsible for the death of Sidhu Moosewala in 2022. Additionally, Canadian police may seek access to Bishnoi for gang-related cases under investigation.
Interpol has issued a red notice against Anmol Bishnoi. The FBI is reportedly verifying his identity and cooperating with Indian agencies for potential deportation.
