Andy Williams, the professional wrestler better known as “The Butcher” in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has died at the age of 48 after suffering a medical emergency during a wrestling match in Pennsylvania.

Professional wrestler and musician Andy Williams, widely known to wrestling fans as The Butcher, died Saturday after collapsing during a tag team match at Mr. Smalls Theater in Millvale, Pennsylvania.

Williams was performing with his longtime tag team partner Jesse Guilmette, known as The Blade, at an Enjoy Wrestling event when he suffered the medical emergency near the end of their match. Doctors at the venue immediately began administering CPR before an ambulance arrived. Williams was then taken to a hospital, where he later died.


The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death on Sunday.

All Elite Wrestling paid tribute to Williams following news of his death, remembering him not only for his professional wrestling career but also for his work as a musician.

“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to learn of the passing of Andy Williams, aka The Butcher,” the promotion said in a statement.

AEW described Williams as a trailblazing musician who successfully transitioned into professional wrestling and earned the respect of his peers both inside and outside the ring.

The promotion also extended its condolences to Williams' family, friends and fans.

Andy Williams became widely recognized in professional wrestling as The Butcher, forming the popular tag team The Butcher and The Blade with Jesse Guilmette.
