Amid trade war, Canadians found a 'nuclear weapon' against the US: Pornhub
In response to escalating trade tensions, some Canadians propose blocking American access to Pornhub as a form of retaliation. A viral petition suggests cutting off U.S. access to the Canadian-based platform, aiming to force a reconsideration of U...

The idea first gained traction when Matthew Puzhitsky jokingly referred to the Canadian-based adult streaming giant as the country’s “nuclear weapon” in the ongoing trade war. His video quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion and even leading to a petition on Change.org.
The petition reads: “The ongoing tariff dispute between Canada and the United States has impacted various sectors of the economy, and we’re proposing a new approach to these proceedings. This petition urges the Canadian Federal Government to enact legislation restricting Pornhub’s services—primarily adult content streaming—from being accessed within the United States.”

According to the petition, which cited data from Pornhub’s Annual Insights Report (2020), American users make up nearly 40% of the platform’s traffic. Advocates argue that cutting off access would send a strong message and force the U.S. to reconsider its trade policies.
With over 600 signatures, the petition calls on the Canadian Parliament to take action, framing the move as a “peaceful yet powerful response” to the dispute. “By signing this petition, you are not only advocating for fair trade practices but also highlighting the power dynamics in the digital age,” the appeal states.
Canada-U.S. Relations at a Boiling Point
Trade tensions between the two nations have been at an all-time high since Donald Trump returned to the White House. His administration has imposed sweeping 25% tariffs and even floated the controversial idea of making Canada the 51st U.S. state—a suggestion that has deeply angered Canadians. In response, a wave of nationalism has surged across Canada. Consumers are boycotting American goods, canceling U.S. travel plans, and provinces have started removing American alcohol from store shelves. According to recent polls, Canada-U.S. relations have become one of the top concerns for Canadian citizens.
While the Pornhub ban remains largely symbolic at this stage, it underscores the growing frustration among Canadians as they seek creative ways to push back against U.S. trade policies.
