Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez are ready to tie the knot in Venice, Italy. The couple arrived in Italy on Wednesday- just days before the lavish $10 million wedding ceremony. The former journalist, 55, and the Amazon founder, 61, were photographed getting out of their helicopter in style and being helped into a water taxi.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding venue changed?

The high-profile wedding, originally planned for Cannaregio, a bustling nightlife area in Venice, the wedding venue has now been shifted to the Arsenale — a 14th-century former shipyard in the Castello district.

On Tuesday, protestors in Venice claimed victory after Jeff Bezos was reportedly forced to change the venue for his wedding celebrations in the city as his guests started arriving on Tuesday for the three-day jamboree. Protestors welcomed the party venue change. “The news that Bezos has run away from the Misericordia is a great victory for us,” said Tommaso Cacciari, a leader of the “No Space for Bezos” campaign, referring to the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, the initially chosen venue.

On Tuesday, media reports claimed the main reception for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez was due to be held in the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, a majestic 16th-century building in the city centre.

However, according to the 'No Space for Bezos' group, the couple made last minute changes after protestors and activists threatened to fill the canals with inflatable crocodiles to block their celebrity guests from entering.

According to local press reports, the venue switch was also due to security concerns after the US joined the war between Israel and Iran, especially because Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, arrived in Venice on Tuesday.

"It's not your usual venue for a wedding, it would be iconic,” the source added. "Everyone is talking about the wedding and it's going to be a huge celebration."

The Amazon founder’s three-day celebration, expected to be attended by over 200 high-profile guests including Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elon Musk, and Ivanka Trump, has sparked outrage among locals. Protestors argue that Venice, already buckling under the strain of overtourism, should not be reduced to a backdrop for luxury events.

The wedding is rumoured to cost around $9.5 to $ 11 million, the NewsNation reports. This estimated cost is based on various calculations, including expenses for hair, the dress, flowers, and the wedding planner.
