German industrial orders in April fell 1.8 per cent from March, official preliminary figures showed Thursday.

FRANKFURT: German industrial orders in April fell 1.8 per cent from March, official preliminary figures showed Thursday.

Foreign orders slumped 3.8 per cent from March, the economy ministry said. The leading indicator showed that demand for German goods was "clearly reduced" in the past months, it said.

Germany, the biggest European economy, is also currently the world's biggest exporter although China is set to take the top spot soon.
