Fujimori arrives in Peru

Former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori arrived in Tacna in southern Peru on Sunday after he was extradited from Chile to stand trial on charges of corruption and killings by death squads under his rule, according to state television.


LIMA: Former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori arrived in Tacna in southern Peru on Sunday after he was extradited from Chile to stand trial on charges of corruption and killings by death squads under his rule, according to state television.

The Peruvian police jet carrying Fujimori was making a stop in Tacna before heading to the capital Lima after Chile's Supreme Court on Saturday ordered his extradition.

It was Fujimori's first trip to his home country after seven years in exile.
