France's Orange to sell iPhone in M East, Africa and EU
French wireless operator Orange has signed a deal with Apple Inc to sell its iPhone in the Middle East, Africa and several European countries.
Apple has so far struck exclusive deal for the iPhone with AT&T Inc. i the United Stats, O2 in Britain, T-Mobile in Germany and Orange in France.
Apple has also signed deals with Vodafone Group PC, the world's biggest mobile company by sale, to sell it in a total of 10 countries, including India, Australia,Italy and Turkey, Rogers Communications Inc to sell the device in Canada and Milan based Telecom Italia SpA to sell the iPhone in Italy.
France Telecom's Orange said in a one-sentence statement that it will sell the handset in Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and African markets later this year.
It didn't offer more detail about the arrangement, including whether it would be the exclusive iPhone provider in some of the targeted countries.
