NEW YORK: The Financial Times newspaper and the CNBC business news channel are in talks to share content online, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday on its Web site.

A deal between the FT and CNBC would be notable because News Corp's $5 billion bid to acquire Dow Jones and Co, publisher of the Journal, would make News Corp into a stronger rival to both companies.

CNBC has a deal to use Dow Jones through 2012, the newspaper said.

An option is for the Financial Times to use video clips from CNBC on its Web site, http://www.ft.com. CNBC would then get access to Financial Times articles for its site, http://www.cnbc.com., the newspaper reported.
