Emirates gets 2nd late A380, expects 2 more in '08

Emirates Airlines says it received its second Airbus A380 and remains on schedule to get two more of the delay-plagued double-decker planes by year's end.

DUBAI: Emirates Airlines says it received its second Airbus A380 and remains on schedule to get two more of the delay-plagued double-decker planes by year's end.

An Emirates representative, who declined to be named in line with company policy, said Sunday the airline still expects to receive a plane each in November and December.

Its second A380 was originally scheduled to arrive in September. Airbus has delivered eight of the 12 A380s it has committed to providing this year.

The plane's development has been slowed by technical setbacks, communication failures and other costly delays dating back to 2005. Emirates has ordered a total of 58 A380s, making it the plane's biggest customer.
