Dubai to get air-conditioned bus stops

Dubai has started installing 815 air-conditioned bus stops with a total cost of Dh 210 million (Rs 2,100 million) in various areas across the city, first of their kind in the world.

DUBAI: Dubai has started installing 815 air-conditioned bus stops with a total cost of Dh 210 million (Rs 2,100 million) in various areas across the city, first of their kind in the world. Mohamed Obeid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency of RTA, Road Transport Authority of Dubai, said that the bus stations will be installed in a number of areas throughout the city on three phases.

The first phase will include the installation of two stations in each bus stop in 315 locations and one station in each bus stop in 185 locations.

"This is considered the first of its kind in the world. This project is part of the strategic initiatives of the RTA to provide better services and amenities for commuters, especially in the high temperatures of summer where these stations had been equipped with the best techniques air conditioning," he added.
