After heading Deutsche Bank's mergers advisory unit for more than three years, Amrit Singh is moving back to London at the end of 2011 to take on a larger role at the German bank. Singh's position will be taken by Sughosh Moharikar, the former MD of Credit Suisse, said people familiar with the matter. The changes are taking place at a time when the industry is seeing tepid M&A activity.

The value of deals involving Indian companies declined 68% to $5.2 billion during the July to September quarter compared to the corresponding period last year, according to data compiled by Ernst & Young. The 40-year-old, London Business School-educated Singh, will be taking up more senior coverage responsibilities at Deutsche's mergers advisory unit, sources added. Moharikar, 44, was with Credit Suisse for three years and before that he spent 14 years at Kotak Mahindra Capital.
