Credit Suisse says it will offer private banking in Japan

Swiss bank Credit Suisse said that it intended to offer private banking services in Japan by the end of this year, as part of a drive to expand its private banking business globally.

ZURICH: Swiss bank Credit Suisse said on Friday that it intended to offer private banking services in Japan by the end of this year, as part of a drive to expand its private banking business globally.

"Establishing operations in Japan is an important part of Credit Suisse's expansion of its Private Banking business globally," the bank said.

Credit Suisse has been present in Japan for about 40 years, offering investment banking and asset management services.
The move into private banking could "complement" existing services, said the second biggest Swiss bank.

The bank also announced that Junya Tani would head the private banking business in Japan.

Tani would join Credit Suisse on July 22 from UBS Securities where he headed wealth management for the Swiss bank's Japanese business.
