Credit Suisse posts 29 per cent jump in Q2 profit

Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse on Thursday said second quarter earnings soared 29 per cent to 1.571 billion francs, adding that it is well positioned to "perform well" even if the economic environment were to worsen.

ZURICH: Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse on Thursday said second quarter earnings soared 29 per cent to 1.571 billion francs, adding that it is well positioned to "perform well" even if the economic environment were to worsen.

The earnings equivalent to 1.474 billion dollars or 1.035 billion euros marked a second consecutive quarter of profits made by the bank, as it recovers from a full-year loss of 8.2 billion francs in 2008.
