China's Suning, IBM to build largest e-commerce platform
China's leading consumer electronics retailer, the Suning Appliance Co, today announced a tie-up with IT giant IBM to build the world's largest e-commerce platform.
The two companies have signed a deal to built the e-commerce platform in Nanjing city, the capital city of the eastern province of Jiangsu.
The platform will be a multi-billion-yuan business supported by advanced information technology and efficient logistics and supply chain management, benefiting both consumers and suppliers, Zhang Jindong, Suning's Board Chairman said.
"The two companies hope to lead the global retail industry by establishing a partnership and making full use of Suning's industry experience and IBM's technology," according to Frank Kern, IBM's senior Vice President.
Suning and IBM have been working together since 2005. They jointly launched an enterprise resource planning system for Suning in 2006.
