BEIJING: China will send a 223-member-strong delegation to take part in the upcoming 4th World Military Games in India, Chinese chef de mission Chen Shaohai said here on Friday.

"Chinese athletes are good enough to take gold medals in shooting, boxing, swimming, judo, military pentathlon and parachuting," Chen said. Upholding the banner of "Friendship through sports", the 4th World Military Games features 15 sports, which include traditional Olympic events like shooting, swimming and boxing, as well as military specific events, such as parachuting and military pentathlon.

While yachting and triathlon are held in Mumbai, the other 13 sports will take place in southern Indian city Hyderabad at the facilities created for the Afro-Asian Games in 2002. In previous games, Russia, China and Italy were the top three on the gold medal table. The 4th World Military Games, scheduled from October 14-21, attracts around 5,000 athletes and officials from 92 countries and regions.
