Centurion Investment acquires 40% stake in NMC

DUBAI: Abu Dhabi-headquartered Centurion Investment has announced the acquisition of a 40 per cent stake in B R Shetty-owned New Medical Centre ( NMC) in the UAE.

B R Shetty, a member of the board of directors in New Medical Centre, said the new partnership will help develop the business and facilitate the company's expansion plans within and outside the UAE.

"We are proud of this partnership with Centurion Investment, the important economic Emirati group, who look forward to enhance its (NMC) presence within the promising local medical sector, which requires all the government's support," he said.

"The acquisition of 40 per cent share of the New Medical Centre comes under the company's plans for investing in the medical sector," said Centurion Investment Company Chairman Said Bin Buti Al Qubaisi. He said the government is keen to support and encourage private sector companies to invest in areas such as medicine, education and services, among others.

"With increasing number of hospitals and medical centres owned by the group, along with the group expanding throughout the various medical specialties, as well as its vision to open more hospitals and medical centres in the Middle East, India and North Africa, NMC will become a regional and international landmark," said Al Qubaisi.

New Medical Centre Chairman Abdulla Al Mazroui expressed his happiness at the partnership as well.
