Zdeno Chára, Alexander Mogilny, and Joe Thornton headline the eight-member class inducted into the 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame. The trio, known for their remarkable contributions to the game, joins an elite group honored for excellence and longevity in their careers. Apart from them, Jennifer Botterill, Brianna Decker, Duncan Keith, Jack Parker and Danièle Sauvageau were officially inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night in Toronto.

Standing 6-foot-9, Chára remains the tallest player ever to compete in an NHL game. Once considered a project, he went on to play 24 seasons, appearing in a record 1,680 games for a defenseman. Chára captured the Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman in 2009 and led the Boston Bruins to three Stanley Cup Finals, winning the title in 2011.

Reflecting on his journey, Chára said that growing up in Slovakia, his size was often a challenge, but moving to North America turned it into an advantage. “I was just a tall kid who could barely speak English,” he said as quoted by Reuters, “but I was lucky to find families who took me in like their own.”

Keith, standing 6-foot-1, spent 17 years with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cups, two Norris Trophies, a Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, and two Olympic gold medals.

Thornton, the first overall pick in the 1997 NHL Draft, also enjoyed a 24-season career. He led the league with 125 points in the 2005–06 season, even after being traded mid-season from Boston to San Jose, and became one of the NHL’s most productive playmakers.

Mogilny played 990 NHL games, scoring 473 goals and totaling 1,032 points. He led the league with 76 goals in 1992–93 and captured a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2000.

Parker earned three NCAA titles and five Hockey East coach-of-the-year awards at Boston University. Sauvageau guided Canada’s women’s team to its first Olympic gold in 2002. Botterill, a three-time Olympic champion, and Decker, an Olympic gold medalist and six-time world champion, round out the 2025 Hall of Fame class.
