YouTube down in Canada? Thousands of users report issues, here’s what caused the outage and when it might be fixed

If you're having trouble accessing YouTube at the moment, you're not alone, a widespread outage is impacting the platform.

According to 9 to 5 Google website, a widespread YouTube outage began around 7:45 pm ET (4:45 pm PT) and intensified rapidly by 8 pm ET (5 pm PT). Nearly 300,000 users reported issues on DownDetector, with additional spikes noted for Google and YouTube TV. However, the disruption appears to be mainly affecting YouTube’s core service.

YouTube is a global video-sharing platform where users can upload, watch, and share content across categories ranging from entertainment and music to education and news.


“User reports indicate problems with YouTube TV since 8:13 PM EST,” it said in a post on X.

The exact cause of the disruption has not yet been disclosed, leaving users awaiting official updates from YouTube on when normal service will be restored.
