The controversy centers around the in-game city of Malevelon Creek. Players believed they were close to reclaiming the city, with progress reportedly reaching 99.9783%. However, despite their efforts, the city was never fully liberated.

This led to suspicions that Arrowhead intentionally prevented a complete victory to serve a predetermined storyline. Some players felt their contributions were being undermined, sparking widespread frustration.
