Canadian teen Victoria Mboko pulled off a stunning comeback to reach the National Bank Open final in Montreal, defeating ninth seed Elena Rybakina 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(4) on Wednesday night.

The two-hour, 46-minute battle marked the longest match of Mboko’s WTA career - a thrilling showdown worthy of the big stage.

Just 18 years old and ranked No. 85 in the world, Mboko is chasing her first WTA Tour title. She’ll face either Naomi Osaka or Clara Tauson in Thursday night’s championship match.

A Toronto native, Mboko began 2025 ranked outside the top 300 but has surged with breakout wins this week - including a straight-set upset of top-seeded Coco Gauff and a quarterfinal victory over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

Rybakina, a former Wimbledon champion from Kazakhstan, had beaten Mboko last month in Washington. The 25-year-old owns nine career WTA titles, including one this May in Strasbourg.

Now, Mboko gets her shot at history on home soil.
