At least five people lost their lives after a septuagenarian gunman had opened fire in Toronto, Canada. Another person has also suffered severe injuries. The injured person was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The suspect was also shot dead by police after they reached the spot.
Police had received the reports about the shooting at a block of flats in Vaughan, which is about 19 miles (30 km) north of Toronto, on December 18. The gunman was a 73-year-old man.
Meanwhile, authorities concerned have started investigating the motive behind the crime. They will also look for a connection between the victims and the gunman. Jim MacSween, the chief of York police, said when officers reached the spot, they witnessed a "horrendous scene," with several dead victims found in various flats of the building.
MacSween stated they could not share any information about the victims or the suspect as the authorities were in the process of informing their families. He added the people evacuated could return to their houses.
