A Vancouver-based social media influencer has been charged with six offences, including human trafficking and sexual assault, following a months-long RCMP investigation that spanned British Columbia and Ontario.
Provincial prosecutors approved the charges on Feb. 20 after BC’s counter-human trafficking unit began probing the case in May 2025, police said.
According to
CTV News website, police said 31-year-old
Tevin Douglas was charged last week with six offences: trafficking a person, procuring sexual services, materially benefiting from trafficking and from sexual services, sexual assault, and advertising sexual services.
Police arrested Douglas at his
Vancouver residence, executing a search warrant with support from the
Vancouver Police Department,
Burnaby RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team.
He was granted release on Feb. 24, subject to several conditions, police said.
Provincial prosecutors approved the charges on Feb. 20, following an investigation launched in May 2025 by the BC RCMP’s counter-human trafficking unit targeting the suspect.
The BC RCMP said in a statement Friday(February 27) that the alleged victim was trafficked in BC’s
Lower Mainland as well as the
Greater Toronto Area.
Investigators allege the offences occurred between July 1, 2023, and Dec. 1, 2023.
According to the
CTV website, investigators believe others may have information about the case and have yet to come forward, according to Insp. Lyndsay O’Ruairc of the counter human trafficking unit.
“Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local police of jurisdiction. Each province has dedicated human trafficking investigators who understand the experiences of victims and can provide support regardless of whether someone is ready to pursue a criminal investigation.”
