Thousands of Capri Sun juice packs recalled. Find out why

Thousands of Capri Sun juice packs are being returned after Kraft Heinz said on Friday that the well-known kid's beverage may have been contaminated with a cleaning solution.

An estimated 5,760 packs of the juice drink blend, which is wild cherry-flavored may have been harmed, the company stated in a news statement, when a weak cleaning chemical for food processing equipment was "inadvertently injected into a production line" at one of the factories.

According to a Kraft Heinz press release, the drinks were "accidentally" contaminated with diluted cleaning solution used on food processing machinery at one of the company's factories. This led to the voluntary recall.


They stated, "The problem was found after we received many client complaints regarding the taste of the impacted product. To remove possibly compromised merchandise from circulation, "the company is actively working with retail partners and distributors."

The implicated items have a "best by" date of June 25, 2023 with a universal product code, which is 087684001004 on the cartons, and a case-specific product code of 876840040900.



According to the press release, the company is coordinating with distributors and retailers to take the potentially contaminated beverage off the market.

Customers, who purchased the recalled products, were advised by Kraft Heinz not to consume them and to instead return them to the place of purchase.

According to Basak Oguz, Philadelphia's marketing director, Kraft Heinz made "millions of dollars" in the product to meet demand at the time.
