Police said that the incident occurred in the Bloor Street West and Queen’s Park area when officers responded to a report of a sexual assault. According to investigators, the victim had ordered a rideshare and was picked up by the driver.
During the journey, the driver allegedly made a sexual remark before stopping the vehicle, moving into the back seat, and sexually assaulting the victim, police said in its release. The suspect, who was in a grey Toyota Corolla, fled the scene, leaving the victim on the sidewalk.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested Harsimranjot Dhillon, 33, of Caledon, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He has been charged with sexual assault.
Police said the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Investigators have expressed concern that there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
According to the Toronto Police Service, a sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact. It includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex, and penetration.
