Massive search for missing Nova Scotia children enters sixth day

The RCMP is set to provide an update this afternoon on the desperate effort to locate six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan, who are believed to have wandered from their home on Gairloch Road in Lansdowne Station, northeastern Nova Scotia, last Friday morning.

As many as 140 search and rescue crew members have combed the area daily in what has become one of the largest recent efforts to locate missing children in Nova Scotia. Search teams have used infrared drones, police dogs, helicopters, and ground teams.

Staff Sgt. Josh Wiese, the incident commander, praised the dedication of the search teams: “They’re tired and they’re optimistic... sacrificing a lot to be here to try and help this family out.”

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Carlie McCann confirmed the case remains an active missing persons investigation, stating, “Police are pursuing all investigative avenues.”

Family pleads for safe return amid growing concern

The children’s stepfather, Daniel Martell, believes they slipped out a sliding back door while he and their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, were occupied. Their grandmother, Cyndy Murray, shared a brief statement: “We’re just hoping and praying for the best — that’s it — for our babies to come home.”
