Quote of the Day by Pythagoras
Quote of the Day: Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher, mathematician, and founder of the Pythagorean brotherhood. He was born c. 570 BCE in Samos, Ionia (Greece).

According to Britannica, the Pythagorean brotherhood, which was considered religious in nature, formulated principles that influenced the thought of Plato and Aristotle and contributed to the development of mathematics and Western rational philosophy.

The discovery of the Pythagorean theorem is attributed to him. It is a well-known geometric theorem that says that the sum of the squares on the legs of a right triangle is equal to the square on the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) (a² + b² = c²). Pythagoras died c. 500–490 BCE in Metapontum, Lucanium (Italy).

Quote of the Day by Pythagoras: “Friends are as companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life."

Meaning of the Quote of the Day: At its core, the quote given by Pythagoras compares life to a journey and friends to fellow travellers. Just as travelers and companions walking a long road support one another through rough paths, fatigue, and uncertainty, true friends help each other navigate life’s challenges.

“Companions on a journey” suggests that life is not meant to be walked alone. It is long, unpredictable, and filled with both joy and hardship. “Aid each other” highlights mutual support. Friendship is not one-sided; it involves encouragement, guidance, comfort, and sometimes honest correction.

“Persevere” emphasizes endurance. Life includes setbacks, failures, and disappointments. Friends help one another stay strong and keep moving forward. “Road to a happier life” suggests that happiness is not a destination reached instantly, but a path built through growth, virtue, resilience, and shared experiences.

Pythagoras presents friendship as something deeper than casual companionship. He implies that true friendship carries responsibility. Friends are not merely there for entertainment or convenience; they are there to: Lift each other during emotional lows, offer advice during confusion, celebrate achievements together, provide strength during adversity, and encourage moral and personal growth.

Today, the Quote by Pythagoras remains highly relevant. In personal struggles, friends provide emotional stability, offering comfort and reassurance when life feels overwhelming. In professional life, they bring motivation and perspective, helping us stay focused and confident in our goals.

During difficult times, they remind us not to give up, encouraging resilience when challenges seem insurmountable. Ultimately, the message is simple yet powerful: friendship is a shared commitment to helping one another move toward a better and happier life.
