Paul Sadon, prominent Barrie businessman and philanthropist, has died at the age of 93. His passing was publicly announced ahead of an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) game between the Barrie Colts and the London Knights, where it was displayed on the scoreboard and shared with the crowd, followed by a moment of silence, according to multiple reports, including barrie360.

Tributes quickly followed from political and community leaders across the region, reflecting Sadlon’s long-standing impact on Barrie and surrounding communities. Ontario’s newly appointed Minister of Red Tape Reduction and MPP for Barrie–Innisfil, Andrea Khanjin, paid tribute to Sadlon, saying, “My sincere condolences go to Mr. Paul Sadlon’s family, friends, and associates on his passing.”



Deputy Mayor of Bradford West Gwillimbury Raj Sandhu also expressed his condolences, writing, “My deepest condolences to his family & his team. I had the chance to meet him few times & he had such a big heart when it came to giving back to his community.”


Who was Paul Sadlon Sr.?


Paul Sadlon Sr. was a well-known and respected Barrie businessman and community benefactor. He founded Paul Sadlon Motors on Bayfield Street in 1971, building the automotive dealership into a trusted local institution associated with integrity, service, and community pride.

Beyond business, Sadlon was widely recognized for his commitment to education and philanthropy. He was a longtime supporter of Georgian College and was awarded the Board of Governors’ Honorary Diploma in 2018. According to barrie360, the Sadlon family also played a key role in the creation of the Sadlon Centre for Health, Wellness, and Sciences, contributing a $2 million donation in 2011.

Sadlon’s influence extended well beyond Barrie’s business sector. He supported numerous community organizations and initiatives, including the Simcoe County Newcomer Recognition Awards, Barrie Pride, the Bradford Lions Club, and the Bradford West Gwillimbury Library and Cultural Centre.
