In an earlier meeting against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Beck seemed to have scored his first NHL goal when his shot beat goaltender Tristan Jarry short side, but the effort was overturned after Penguins coach Dan Muse successfully challenged the play for offside.

Beck, who signed a three-year, $2.56 million entry-level contract with the Canadiens in October 2022, carries a cap hit of $853,333, according to PuckPedia. The deal runs through the 2026–27 season.
