Ottawa is heating up fast, find out how hot it’s getting this week

Ottawa is set to experience its warmest day of the year on Tuesday, May 13, with the mercury expected to hit 26°C. This continues a stretch of unusually warm weather for May.


According to Environment Canada, the humidex will make it feel like 28°C, making it feel even hotter than it is. Monday was also warm, with temperatures reaching 25.5°C. Today will be mainly sunny, giving residents a bright and warm day to enjoy.



This warm spell is well above the seasonal average. Typically, Ottawa sees highs of 19°C and lows around 8°C during this time of year. Instead, the city is now experiencing temperatures 6 to 7 degrees above normal.


Tonight will be partly cloudy, with temperatures dipping to a mild 14°C.


The weather is expected to shift slightly on Wednesday. It will be mainly cloudy, with a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers. The high will still be pleasant at 25°C.


Thursday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, again with a 30 per cent chance of showers. The high will be a bit cooler at 17°C.


Friday looks warmer again, with a high of 28°C. However, there’s a 60 per cent chance of showers, so keep an umbrella handy.


Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is expected to be cloudy with a high of 22°C. Sunday will be mainly cloudy, with a cooler high of 18°C.


The recent warm trend has given Ottawa an early taste of summer. With more ups and downs expected through the week, it's best to keep both sunscreen and a raincoat nearby.
