Ontario’s Lotto Max streak continues as $55 million jackpot is won in Eastern Ontario, days after $80 million London victory

Lotto Max is a nationwide Canadian lottery game run by provincial lottery corporations, known for its large jackpots and added Maxmillions prizes when the top prize grows. Tickets are priced at $5 per play, and draws take place every Tuesday and Friday.
Players can buy Lotto Max tickets at authorized lottery retailers across Canada or through official provincial lottery websites and mobile apps. To play, participants select seven numbers from 1 to 50, or choose a Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers; winnings are determined by how many numbers match those drawn, with the jackpot awarded for matching all seven.
The victory follows an $80 million Lotto Max jackpot won in London just over a week earlier, giving Ontario consecutive jackpot wins, OLG said.
“This is two life-changing wins in a row for Ontario Lotto Max players. Incredible,” OLG’s Tony Bitonti said, according to CTV News website. “I am excited to meet all these new multi-millionaires when they come forward to claim these life-changing prizes.”
Officials said thousands of additional prizes were claimed across Ontario in Friday night's (January 9) draw. One of those wins included a $100,000 Encore ticket sold in Ajax.
According to CTV News website, since Lotto Max began in 2009, Ontario players have collectively won over $9.5 billion, accounting for 119 jackpot victories and 993 Maxmillions prizes across the province.
