The 22‑acre park, located at 1180 Lakeshore Rd. W. in the Lorne Park neighbourhood west of Mississauga Road, is a popular community space. It features picnic areas, tennis courts, a leash‑free zone, native tallgrass prairie, a spray pad, a toboggan hill, trails, and an unsupervised beach.
Police confirmed the woman was “swept into the water,” though further details about the circumstances had not been released at the time this report was filed. “Following search and rescue efforts, Mississauga Fire located the woman at approximately 11:15 p.m.,” investigators told CP24 on Sunday morning. They said she was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
“At this time, we have not been able to locate and notify her next of kin,” a media officer said, adding as a result, they are “unable to provide any further details regarding the deceased until that notification has taken place.”
