Yarmouth RCMP responded to a complaint about a man threatening people at the campground on Comeaus Hill Road at around 11:50 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, as reported by CTV News. According to responding officers, they spotted firearms inside the man’s trailer, after which the man barricaded himself inside.
Police worked with campground security and evacuated people from the area as a precaution. “At approximately 12:45 a.m., the man exited the trailer and was safely arrested,” the RCMP said, as quoted by CTV News. “Officers subsequently seized three loaded shotguns and one loaded rifle.”
Gauthier, 38, has been charged with assault, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm or prohibited weapon with ammunition, and unsafe storage of firearms. He was remanded into custody and is due to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on Monday.
