An investigation was launched into the incident with assistance from the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service. “On July 4, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Cumberland County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy 321 near River Philip. Officers learned that a Honda Civic went off the roadway and collided with a culvert,” RCMP said in its news release.
According to police, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Springhill, N.S., was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Highway 321 was closed for several hours while an RCMP collision reconstructionist examined the scene. The highway was later reopened, and the investigation remained ongoing at the time of filing of this report.
