Fendi made a striking entrance to the runway following the pandemic disruption with a show celebrating its iconic Baguette bag to kick off New York Fashion Week.
Fendi's Baguette Bag
On Friday, the 1990s supermodel Linda Evangelista wrapped up the runway presentation, 15 years after her last catwalk appearance and 25 years after actress Sarah Jessica Parker's petite purse from the television series "Sex and the City" became a style icon.
The bag's creator, Silvia Venturini Fendi, and Kim Jones, artistic director of Fendi's women's collections, collaborated with Marc Jacobs, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tiffany & Co., and the Japanese bag producer, Porter.
The little, rectangular handbag, which is generally carried over the shoulder like a baguette, became the focal point of an entire line.
Marc Jacob's Designs: Perfect for Special Occasions
Models paraded at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom while techno music blasted in the background. Several items, including parkas, gloves, hats, sweaters, skirts, and parkas, had Fendi's Baguette design element. These items blended silk satin, glossy leather, and sequined materials, making them perfect for special occasions. Marc Jacobs designed ten of the total 54 styles, all of which had exaggerated dimensions and oversized forms.
The clothing and accessories, which included parachute train skirts, opera capes, and repurposed fur caps, used subdued white tones mixed with vibrant neons inspired by safety vests from New York City streets.
Jones and Tiffany & Co. Collaboration
Another well-known New York company, Tiffany & Co., also participated in the celebrations by working with Fendi to create Tiffany-blue editions of the baguette. Other pieces of the range's clothes and accessories come in brilliant blue. This reflected Jones' partnership with Tiffany & Co. In New York, the Fendi flagship store is next to the Tiffany flagship store.
Since they are blue and Fendi is yellow, there is a complementary effect. For the unusual crossover, the high-end jewelry company applied its recognizable Tiffany blue tint to a jumpsuit, headgear, sunglasses, a menswear jacket, and, of course, the brand-new Baguette bags.
