Canada’s skies will soon shine again with another full moon, known as the Strawberry Moon, will appear on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
If you missed the bright Flower Moon on Monday, May 12, don’t worry. Canada’s skies will soon shine again with another full moon. The next one, known as the Strawberry Moon, will appear on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and it promises a beautiful show.

Why is it called the Strawberry Moon?

Despite its name, the Strawberry Moon won’t look red or pink. The name comes from Indigenous groups like the Algonquin and Ojibwe, who used this full Moon to mark the time when strawberries ripen. Other traditional names include Berries Ripen Moon, Green Corn Moon, and Blooming Moon, all reflecting the early summer harvest.

In Europe, June’s Moon was also called the Honey Moon or Mead Moon, linking it to the month of weddings and love—June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage.

When to watch the Strawberry Moon?

The Strawberry Moon will reach its peak illumination at 3:44 p.m. EDT on June 11. But don’t worry—you’ll be able to see it best later that night, after sunset, when it rises in the eastern sky.

Moonrise times vary by location. Here’s when to look up on June 11:

  • Toronto: 9:13 p.m. EDT

  • Vancouver: 9:43 p.m. PDT

  • Montreal: 9:00 p.m. EDT

  • Calgary: 9:55 p.m. MDT

  • Halifax: 8:57 p.m. ADT

  • Winnipeg: 9:38 p.m. CDT

What’s the moon cycle?

The Moon goes through a full cycle every 29.5 days. It starts as a New Moon, becomes a First Quarter, then reaches the Full Moon phase—when it’s fully lit and visible. Afterward, it fades through the Last Quarter and returns to the New Moon again. The Strawberry Moon is the full phase of the June cycle.

So if you missed May’s Micromoon, don’t worry—June’s full Moon is just around the corner. Mark your calendar and get ready to enjoy one of the most poetic nights of the season!
