Jets win game 7 against Blues, advance to second round

In Game 7 of the Western Conference First Round, the Winnipeg Jets overcame the St. Louis Blues with a 4-3 double-overtime victory at Canada Life Centre, putting them into the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Jets made a remarkable comeback after trailing 3-1 late in the third period. Vladislav Namestnikov started the rally by scoring with 1:55 remaining, and Cole Perfetti delivered a clutch goal with just 2.2 seconds left to tie the game, marking the latest game-tying goal in a Game 7 in NHL history. Adam Lowry became the hero in the second overtime, deflecting Neal Pionk's shot past Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington at 16:10 to secure the victory. Lowry's goal capped off a team effort, with Perfetti contributing two goals and Pionk adding three assists. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves.


“I’ve never screamed so loud in my life,” said longtime fan Marlene Davis, who’s held season tickets since 2011. “It felt like the whole city was breathing as one.”

For the Blues, goals from Jordan Kyrou and Mathieu Joseph gave them a strong start. Binnington was outstanding in the net, recording 43 saves, but ultimately, the Blues' efforts fell short.

This victory was especially significant for the Jets, who overcame injuries to key players like Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele.

The Jets will face the Dallas Stars in the second round, with the Stars defeating the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 to advance.
