I Love All My Children: Robert De Niro in support of his transgender daughter Airyn

Every child seeks their parents’ acceptance, and the Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro,81, has shown just that, proudly supporting his daughter Airyn after she came out as transgender. “I love all my children,” he shared. He publicly embraced his daughter, Airyn De Niro, after she revealed that she was transgender.

He said, "I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the big deal is. I love all my children."

While talking with Them magazine, Airyn, 29, shared her journey and discussed her transition and the challenges she faced while growing up. She also expressed gratitude to her parents for protecting her from the public and media during her formative years.


"There's a difference between being visible and being seen," Airyn said. "I've been visible. I don't think I've been seen yet." She candidly spoke about feeling like a "late bloomer," having started hormone therapy in November, and the internalized messages of not being "enough"—not skinny enough, not Black enough, not masculine enough.

While interviewing, she said that she was inspired by trailblazers like Laverne Cox, who responded with a heartfelt video message in which she said, "I want to congratulate you on embracing the beauty that you are. And I'm not talking about the outside; I'm talking about the beauty that is being trans".
