Grammy nominated rapper A$AP Rocky booked by police in Los Angeles. Here's why

In a trouble for A$AP Rocky alias Rakim Athelaston Mayers, the American rapper was charged with pulling out a gun and firing twice on his own friend in front of bystanders. The District Attorney noted it as a serious crime citing that onlookers and tourists could have got hurt in the melee. The incident happened in Los Angeles last year on November 6 and the rapper could land in prison for 9 years if the verdict is guilty.

The rapper, who has been nominated twice for a Grammy, has been in a relationship with Rihanna and had a baby boy in the month of May this year.

The rapper’s lawyer has not made any statements in this regard yet. While the office of George Gascon, Los Angeles County District Attorney said that his office conducted a thorough probe before drawing a conclusion that the use of a special firearm was needed and had to be included in the case. The shootout came out in the open in April when the rapper was returning with Rihanna after a holiday and was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport. He was released three hours later after a bail of $550,000 was posted on his behalf. The police came across plenty of guns while searching his house post his arrest.


Terell Ephron alias A$AP Relli had filed a case against Mayers after this incident and he is of the opinion that A$AP Rocky lured him to meet up and discuss their mutual differences regarding some issues. The charges laid against A$AP Rocky are assault and battery, and negligence, leading to emotional distress. After quarreling with each other Rocky pulled out his gun and pointed it at Relli and fired many shots. Relli was wounded by shrapnel and had to undergo treatment. Relli is now demanding $25,000 in damages as a result.

A$AP Rocky is known for getting into fights with people. He was also pulled up by the local police in Stockholm for participating in a street brawl in August 2019.
